Game Breeding

Welcome to the THABA LESODI (7,533.5 acres) and KLEIN KUNKURA (1,111.5 acres) game ranches.  Both these properties have unparalleled environmental qualities and they are owned by the Tom Fraser Investments group of companies.

The Fraser family have been passionately involved in non-commercial game ranching since 1985 when Tom and Annalie Fraser bought their first game ranch.Their three children were then 6, 13 and 15 years old. This early exposure to nature the preservation of biodiversity cultivated a love for wildlife life conservation and game ranching in ALL the family’s souls

The original ranch, where the family’s love for the soil, the flora and the fauna – and the need to preserve biological diversity – was born, was sold in 2005.  The family, however, continued to breed game animals on another family game ranch – KLEIN KUNKURA (“Kunkura” is the Sotho name for a Roan Antelope)- which they had purchased in 1998.  And on this property they encouraged, and still encourage, bowhunting.

Then Tommy and his father stumbled upon, and purchased, a gem of a game ranch property in the Waterberg called THABA LESODI (7,533 acres).  This property has been described as “the most scenic and biologically diverse land holding in the Waterberg Mountains”. It is located within the Greater Waterberg area – which is listed with the United Nations as an internationally acclaimed “Protected Biosphere”. The Fraser family call it “paradise”.

Today THABA LESODI  boasts a wealth of wildlife – unique scenery, a wide variety of wild plants (and habitats) and a host of bird species. Its game animals include rare species purchased from Lumari Game Breeders (of the famous Stud Game Breeders group) – who supply animals of the best genetic quality in South Africa.

THABA LESODI caters for a broad range of visitors: hunters, wildlife photographer’s and wildlife enthusiasts of many kinds.  It offers, above all else, the peace and tranquility of the beautiful Waterberg Mountains. Bookings for all activities can be made through Fraser-Roux Hunting and Photographic Safaris.

KLEIN KUNKURA continues to focus on selective bow hunting, conferences and photographic safaris. Both the ranches are family-friendly and your spouses and children are more than welcome to join you on what we are sure you will discover to be an unforgettable safari adventure.
